FAQ’s
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I know if I need therapy?
If you are suffering or struggling and have not been able to make changes on your own, therapy can help. Therapy is also very beneficial, at any age, when you have identified a pattern in your life and you want it to change; such as a way of communicating/interacting with others, less than optimum self-care, or tension in your relationships.
How do I schedule an appointment?
When you are ready to Schedule an Appointment, you will be asked to complete a form so that I know how to reach you. Include any questions you have and your reasons for seeking therapy. I will be back in touch by email/phone to schedule your appointment. Prior to the first appointment, I will send out forms for you to complete and return.
Are you accepting new patients?
I am accepting new, private pay clients, starting in October 2023. I am available on Thursdays, in Portsmouth for in-person appointments. Telehealth appointments are available at other times, including early morning or evening, when these times are available.
Do you do Telehealth appointments?
Yes. I offer telehealth or in-person appointments. Please indicate your preference when scheduling an appointment.
What are your fees?
My fees are:
1st initial intake appointment 90 minutes - $150
50-minute therapy appointment - $120
30-minute therapy appointment/consultation - $60
My preferred payment method is a credit card, but I will take payment by Venmo or check if you prefer.
What insurance plans do you work with?
If you are covered under the traditional Medicare plan (red, white and blue card), I can submit directly for a majority of the cost of my services. If you also have a supplemental plan, the remaining balance will be quite reasonable. I cannot submit to a Medicare Advantage plan. For all other private insurance, with an out-of-network benefit, an invoice/bill can be provided to you to submit for reimbursement. I am a licensed clinical social worker in NH (license # NH 1674) and any insurance with an out-of-network benefit should provide coverage for my services, once you have met your deductible.
Where is your office located?
For in-person appointments, my office is in Portsmouth, NH, with limited availability on Thursdays. With free and easily accessible parking. The office is on the second floor, with no elevator.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long. In certain circumstances, I will see people for 30 minutes, which costs less.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
There will be no fee if the appointment is canceled within 24 hours. If you cancel on short notice (less than 24 hours), you will be charged 50% of your session fee. It is acceptable to switch from an in-person to a virtual appointment on short notice.
Do you prescribe medications?
I do not prescribe medication.
How do I know if it’s a good fit?
Seeking therapy and finding a therapist that you work well with can be intimidating and takes a commitment of time, energy, and money. Please reach out for a free initial consultation to begin the process of assessing if I am someone you think you can work well with and if either of us has concerns about the fit, we can talk about it.
Do you work with children?
I do not work directly with children. However, I am experienced in working with adults with parenting issues.
Are you available outside of session hours?
I am in private practice as a sole practitioner, I am unable to provide support outside of sessions, however, I will provide resources for all clients if additional support is needed outside of sessions.
